Paul Buxton, MBA, AAMS®, CRPC®
Paul Buxton was born and raised in Scotland and moved to the US in 1977. He graduated from secondary school at Broxburn Academy and attended both Bathgate Technical College and Napier School of Science and Technology in Scotland. Paul competed and won many of the ‘heavy events’ in Highland Games through Scotland (yes, he did toss the caber!).
After winning national titles in the throwing events and weight lifting in Scotland and Great Britain, Paul represented Scotland and Great Britain in international competition, the Europa Cup, the World Student Games and the World Weight Lifting Championships. He made the qualifying standard for the Olympic Games but was forced to retire from competitive lifting and throwing after knee surgery.
While growing up in Scotland, Paul was an active Cub, Boy, and Venture Scout and went on to earn the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. He worked on a farm where he helped breed and train horses.
Paul went on to accept a track and field scholarship from Washington State University (WSU) in Pullman, WA. Paul earned an Undergraduate Degree in Construction Management (BS CM) and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from WSU.
While competing for WSU, Paul set a US NCAA national freshman record in the hammer. Paul was a member of the WSU Track and Field team that was inducted into the WSU Hall of Fame. That team won the NCAA indoor track and field title and was undefeated in dual meet competition.
After completing his MBA and before relocating to Colville, Paul lectured in the Department of Business at the University of Idaho, and at WSU in Finance and Real Estate.
Paul continually studies and strives to improve his knowledge. He has earned the Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS) and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) designations from the College of Financial Planning.
Paul established the first Edward Jones office in Colville in 1984 and was a partner in the firm until forming Buxton Financial in 2010. He joined Financial Management, Inc. in August 2018. Paul holds securities registrations Series 7, 63, 66, and 24 with LPL Financial. He is licensed and has clients in multiple states for both investment and insurance business.
He is both a US and UK citizen and is married to Dr. Angela Ball. They have two sons, Robbie and Liam. Paul enjoys riding his motorcycle, landscaping with Angela and golf. He and Angela continue to support multiple charities and nonprofit organizations.
